It is with great pleasure and satisfaction that we announce the successful completion of the first year of continued publishing of the Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan (JCPSP) Case Reports or JCPSPCR. As we reflect on this milestone, we are filled with gratefulness for the unwavering support from the medical community, our enthusiastic contributors, and keen readers.
The journal was launched one year ago as a companion journal to the main journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan (CPSP), the JCPSP, for online-only publishing of case reports and small case series. The journal was launched in response to the growing need and demand from the fellows and postgraduate trainees/residents of CPSP, particularly early-carrier researchers in the field, for an author-friendly venue for writing and publishing their debut research work. In addition, the main journal had stopped accepting case reports for publication in line with the emerging trend of major journals in the field not entertaining case reports. The latter required an alternative avenue for publishing case reports, an important piece of scientific communication, for the medical fraternity.
Over the past year, it has emerged as a useful and accessible platform for case reports in the broad landscape of biomedical sciences. In order to speed up the process of publication of case reports, a major concern of most of the authors, the journal adopted the continuous publication (CP) model, in which the content is published online as soon as it becomes ready for publication without waiting for other articles to accumulate. So far, the journal has published 57 case reports, which constitute a major chunk of the reports received by the journal during the last year. The contributors’ origin profile largely mirrored that of the main journal. As such, the journal received case reports not only from Pakistan but also from abroad. The journal was successful in obtaining ISSN number (3005-835X) during the first year of its publication. Similarly, it will be indexed with all major national and international indexing agencies in due course of time.
As we move into the second year, our commitment to excellence remains unfaltering. We have enthusiastic plans to improve the journal's reach, visibility, and impact. This includes its indexation with major global indexing agencies, reaching out to new contributors, and exploring innovative ways to disseminate knowledge in the ever-evolving arena of biomedical sciences.
We are deeply indebted to the researchers and contributors who chose JCPSPCR for the dissemination of their research work and for sharing their insights and discoveries with the global medical community. Your commitment to excellence has been the driving force behind the success of JCPSPCR, and we look forward to continue this journey in the years to come. We are also grateful to our readers whose continued support has been a source of inspiration for the journal. We are highly thankful to our learned reviewers who are the main pillars in maintaining the quality of this peer-reviewed journal by dedicating their time and skills. In the end, I would also like to appreciate the dedication of our editorial staff who take pride and precedence in helping and facilitating authors to disseminate their prestigious work.
